Dr. Kamso Okonkwo is a newly graduated Doctor of Medicine (MD) from the Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California (2025). He earned his Bachelor of Arts in Biology from Columbia University in 2019.
With a deep commitment to advancing medical knowledge and improving patient outcomes, Dr. Okonkwo extensively engaged in research across multiple prestigious divisions at the University of Southern California, including Cardiothoracic Surgery, Cardiovascular Medicine, and Orthopaedic Surgery. His impactful work contributed to significant retrospective reviews affecting cardiac surgical treatments, heart-kidney transplantation outcomes, and return-to-sport criteria in athletes. His dedication to research is evidenced by multiple peer-reviewed publications in leading medical journals.
Beyond his rigorous academic and research pursuits, Dr. Okonkwo is passionate about mentorship, serving as a guiding force for pre-medical and high school students interested in healthcare. He has also championed discussions on equitable healthcare access and policy through his leadership roles at Columbia University. Prior to medical school, he gained valuable experience as a content writer in the healthcare sector, focusing on perioperative management and healthcare policy.
